The cathedral quarter is among the oldest surviving parts of Brno's architectural heritage. Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings around the bishopric recall the city before the major redevelopment at the end of the 19th century. The cathedral, with its largely Baroque interior, is a city landmark depicted on the Czech ten-crown coin.

Denisovy sady park, originally known as Františkov, offers views over the southern part of the city towards the Pálava hills. Its central obelisk commemorates the Austrian Empire's victory over Napoleon. It stands on the axis of Husova Street, which follows the former city walls towards the Red Church, the Protestant Church of Jan Amos Komenský.
